The restaurant on the top floor of the hotel slowly revolved to afford commanding views of the leafy surrounds and the sea as we were having our morning buffet. This was also Yunduo'er's first taste of what a revolving restaurant was like.
酒店顶层的旋转餐厅，吃早自助时可看到郁郁葱葱的环境和大海，这也是云朵儿第一次感受旋转餐厅。
After hanging around for a while on the sandy beach, one under a broad sullen sky, right in front of the hotel, we were headed northwestwards, which meant Qingdao became the southernmost point of return. Hours later, we arrived in the city of Zibo.
天色阴沉。在酒店前的海滩上逗留了一会儿，我们便朝西北而去。青岛是我们此行的最南端转折点。几个小时之后到达淄博市。
Party secretary Ma Xiaolei and his government highly acclaimed for serving the people wholeheartedly are behind the city's meteoric rise to fame. Zibo's police ensured farmers' combines on roads could go for harvests without any hitches - unbelievably, they saluted the farmers as they were driving by. Zibo's chengguan helped peddlers put out their wares. An online video even chanted: "Zibo's sky is bright, Zibo's people love it." Secretary Ma said, "I don't care if Zibo can be rated as a 'Model City'. I only care about our people." The gatekeepers at the entrance to the urban government compound were very friendly to visitors. A middle-aged man, who must be a government staffer, said "Welcome to Zibo" when he came out and pointed for me in the direction Secretary Ma was working. But in contrast, one old-timer gatekeeper with a deadpan face at the entrance to the residential zone of the government staff gave me a song and dance when I asked politely where Secretary Ma was working, as if that were a piece of highly classified information. There are those who tend to put on airs to tell you that they are very important no matter how little say they have.
淄博名声鹊起，因为这里有马晓磊书记和他领导的全心全意你为人民服务的政府。淄博的警察为公路上去收割的农户收割机保驾护航，警察竟然向经过的收割机敬礼，难以置信。淄博的城管帮老百姓摆摊。网上一个视频唱:“淄博的天是明亮的天，淄博人民好喜欢。”马书记说，“我不在乎是否被评为文明城市，我只在乎我们的老百姓。”市政府大院的门卫很客气。一位中年男子，应该是政府工作人员，从里面出来时说“欢迎来淄博”，并给我指了指马书记办公的方向。但反差很大的是，在市委机关生活区有个门卫老头，我问他请问马书记在什么地方办公，他挂着一张死盘子脸，嘴跳动了半天都说的是别的，似乎我问的是高度机密信息。总有一些人只要稍微有点儿权力，哪怕芝麻点儿大的权力，都浑身喷气儿要飞，一定要向你证明自己的重要性。
Dingy, dowdy, drab, tattered, tatty, scruffy, faded, - at least the overall look of the building of CPC Zibo Commission where Secretary Ma works deserved all these adjectives, not holding a candle to many government buildings I've seen during our tours around the country in the years past. Maybe Zibo's money has been all spent on serving the people, which has left the city's treasury always too cash-strapped for renovations.
淄博市委办公楼是马书记的办公地，显得暗淡、过时、单调、破烂，掉渣儿。多年来走过很多地方，淄博市委的办公楼跟许多异地政府办公楼比，根本连头都不敢抬。也许淄博的钱都用来为人民服务了，所以根本没钱翻修。
The city's barbecues rose to fame too. We had our dinner at a food joint called Ersao. Staff bustled around serving myriad diners. In the past May Day holiday, enthusiasts swarmed into the city for barbecues, including those who drove 1000km+ for the food. According to an online video, some other cities have sent people here to pick Zibo's brains about the recipes. Is the barbecue Zibo's showcase? It's the "serving the people" doctrine.
淄博烧烤也火。我们来到“二嫂烧烤”。客人很多，小店忙得团团转。上个五一节，淄博烧烤吸引了大量外地人，有人驱车1000多公里过来。网上说有其它省市过来调研淄博烧烤是怎么烤的。淄博火是因为烧烤？是因为“为人民服务。”
Barbecuing with a hot stove in a cramped place on such a hot day? "Chee!" a young man cocked his head and sneezed in our direction without shielding his nose and mouth from which an unseen blast of air suddenly and noisily shot out, sending tens of thousands of tiny drops of glutinous spittle flying around and landing meters away - this is how a scientific video describes what will happen when one sneezes without wearing a mask.
天热，空间小，守着炉子烧烤，不太好受。“嗤嚓——”旁边有人一歪头朝我们这个方向打了个喷嚏，没有遮挡口鼻。一股无形的雾气一定从他的口鼻突然地、大声地发射出来，几十万个粘稠的胶质小液粒儿四处飞散，最终稳定在数米之外的任何东西上。我看过的一个科学视频，讲述了不戴口罩打喷嚏会发生什么，就是这么说的。
