英语中有三个常见的副词：already/ yet /still，虽然看起来很简单，但是考试中有不少小陷阱，因为这三者的用法、在句中的位置都有区别。

一、already. adv. “已经”，用于表明某事早已发生。

① 多用于肯定句中，通常用于现在完成时，一般置于句中。如：

I have already done my homework.
我已经完成了我的作业。

He has already washed the car.
他已经洗了车。

The train has already left.
火车已经开走了。

有时为了强调会置于句末：I've seen the film already. (句末)


② 也可用于疑问句，但不表真心的疑问，而表“惊奇”。

Have you already had breakfast?
难道你已经吃过早餐了？


二、yet. adv. “已经、仍然、还”，只用于否定句或疑问句，且常置于句末。如：

He hasn't found his bike yet.
他还没有找到他的自行车。

I haven't gone there yet.
我还没去过那里。

Have you finished your homework yet?
你已经做完你的作业了吗?


三、still

① adv. “仍然、还”，表示 "某事尚在进行中"，用在肯定句中，常用于一般现在时和现在进行时中。如：

I am still doing my homework.
我还在做作业。

He's still living with his mother.
他仍与母亲住在一起。

I still dream of home.
我依然做梦梦到家。

② still 也可用在否定句和疑问句中，在否定句中需将still放在否定词not之前。

Do you still teach in that school?
你还在那所学校教书？

I still don't know Lucy.
我还是不认识露西。

He still hasn't apologized.
他到现在还没有道歉。


③ still 也可作形容词，指没有运动或动作的状态，意为静止的/ 寂静的/ 不动的。

The doctor asked me to keep still.
医生叫我不要动。

The forest was very still.
森林里非常寂静。


★★ 注：still在句中的位置不同，其词性和意义也不同。试比较：

❖He is still standing there.
他还站在那里。(adv. 还)

❖He is standing there still.
他站在那儿一动也不动。(adj.不动的/ 静止的)


❖He still stands.
他仍旧站着。(adv. 还)

❖Stand still.
站好别动。(adj.不动的/ 静止的)
